From the beginning, he understood the importance of providing a place in London for artists to meet, encourage, inspire one another to create new music exploring new combinations of sound and rhythm and bringing diverse audiences together in our world class city. Zakir’s spectacular tabla solos are one of the great sights and sounds in music today – he is a virtuoso at the very height of his creative powers and a huge inspiration to our artists, young and old, who want to explore new horizons and experiment with new forms of sound and dance.
